Product description
Lot: an original antique charcoal (box) iron with a hinged top, curved carrying loop and small wooden latch knob. Photographs show the vented base and internal charcoal chamber, the hinged lid opens and latches, and the original wooden knob and carrying loop remain fitted. Surface rust and an even aged patina cover the body and fittings, with visible corrosion on fasteners — the hinge operates and holds the lid open and the lid closes and latches securely.
Perfect as a decorative vintage accent or display piece for collectors, antique shops, film/prop houses and industrial-style interiors. Suits a restoration project or display on a shelf, mantel or shop window — a tactile, authentic example of ironwork from an earlier era. Not offered as a working appliance.
- Includes: single charcoal/box iron as pictured (no additional parts or accessories).
- Condition: heavy surface rust and patina across body and fittings; corrosion on hinge fasteners; wooden knob worn and discoloured but intact and secure.
- Measurements: not provided.
- Working status: Not applicable (non-powered, hinge tested and holds open; lid closes and latches).
- Known faults: surface rust, aged patina, corroded fastenings and worn wooden knob. No maker’s marks visible.
