Product description
Rand McNally Terrestrial Globe, marked “Diameter 12 inches” on the printed label, mounted in its original metal meridian and circular base — a classic desktop or display globe with clear maker label. The globe turns freely on its axis and retains the original paper map gores showing a soft, aged colour palette; metal meridian and base show age patina and surface corrosion that suits a vintage decorative piece.
This is a decorative / collector opportunity: perfect for a vintage-styled office, study or shop display, or for a restoration project where the map surface can be conserved. It will suit decorators, collectors of cartographic items, teachers wanting a tactile historic globe for display, or hobbyists who repair paper gores. The stand is structurally sound and the globe rotates, so it displays well despite the paper damage.
- Included: single Rand McNally terrestrial globe mounted in a metal meridian ring and metal circular stand (as pictured).
- Condition: paper map surface aged with staining, creasing, visible tape/glue repairs, small tears and partial seam/gore lifting; some surface loss and discolouration. Metal meridian and base show cosmetic wear and surface corrosion/patina.
- Measurements: H 38 cm (overall) x D 35 cm (approx.). Label shows “Diameter 12 inches”.
- Working status: Non-powered decorative globe — rotates freely on its axis (tested in warehouse).
- Known faults: multiple taped/ glued repairs to gores, creases, small tears at seams/lifting, staining/discolouration to paper surface, and cosmetic corrosion/age on metal meridian and base.
