eHawker

Nearly 40 years in the second-hand trade.

eHawker is a family-owned auction business built on real stock, real bidders, fair competition and the simple rule that every lot starts at R1 with no reserve.

eHawker started in 1986 as a live auction in Roodepoort on the West Rand, selling general household goods and office goods to the public. In 2018, the business moved into a hybrid model of live and online auctions. When COVID changed the way people bought and sold, eHawker moved fully online and kept the auction energy alive through a digital bidding floor.

Today, eHawker brings nearly 40 years of second-hand trading experience into an online auction marketplace specialising in household goods, office goods, collectibles and antiques. The idea is simple: verified items, open bidding, no hidden reserve, and a fair chance for buyers and sellers to meet at a true market price.

1Real stock in our hands

Items are received through our warehouse process before they go live. Buyers are bidding on actual items that exist, not random listings from unknown sellers.

2Clear condition information

Listings show photos, condition notes, ratings and refund status so buyers can decide with confidence before placing a bid.

3Open market selling

Every lot starts at R1 with no reserve, giving buyers a fair opportunity and sellers a true market result from real bidder demand.

4Simple seller drop-off

Sellers do not need strangers visiting their homes or ten different collection arrangements. Upload, drop off, and let the auction do the work.

For buyers, eHawker removes one of the biggest fears of buying second-hand goods online: fraud. Because the auction stock comes through the eHawker warehouse process, buyers can see what they are bidding on and know that the item is available in the condition stated on the listing. If a lot is listed as refundable and it is not as described, the refund process protects the buyer inside the applicable refund window.

For sellers, eHawker solves a different problem: knowing what second-hand goods are really worth. Many household and office items lose value over time. A fixed asking price can be too high and scare buyers away, or too low and sell too quickly. An open eHawker auction lets bidders compete fairly, and because each item is unique, the final minutes can bring strong demand from buyers who know that exact lot may not appear again.

Why R1 and no reserve?

Reserve prices often stop bidding before it starts. A R1 start with no reserve puts the item into an open market where buyers compete and the final price is decided transparently.

Why the warehouse model?

The warehouse model gives buyers confidence and saves sellers time. Sellers drop off once, and eHawker handles the auction presentation and buyer process from there.

Why eHawker feels different

Every auction lot is unique. Buyers are not shopping shelves of identical stock; they are competing for once-off items in a live online auction environment.

Real items. Real bidders. Real market value.

eHawker creates a central auction point where sellers can bring real goods, buyers can compete for verified lots, and both sides can deal through a transparent auction process.
